Total Truth Tuesday

Yep, you guessed it. We've got a bun in the oven!

After two whole weeks of trying (seriously? how fertile can I be?) we managed to get me all knocked up!

So, next March we'll be adding kiddo #3 to the Loving family. Which is crazy and fun and terrifying and completely awesome!

But, like everything in our life, it is a bit complicated. After an agonizingly horrible delivery experience with our Kai (which is another story for another day) I have no choice but to have C-section deliveries. I know some of you won't believe me, but, trust me, I have absolutely no choice. This is not an issue of vanity and convenience.

Sooo, we had a switch of insurance after Ivy's birth and got glorious and wonderful group health through Thomas' job. But, that job was short lived (it was a tech company that completely closed it's doors 3 months after hiring him) and we had to go back to independent insurance. Which means, guess what? No maternity coverage whatsoever after having had a C-section. Apparently, needing insurance is one big huge disqualifying factor for insurance companies. God forbid you actually need their services.

And, if your still reading after this long boring story, that translates to absolutely no maternity insurance for us with a $15,000 (or more) C-section on the horizon. But, at the risk of sounding completely naive, I am going to trust that it will work itself out. 'Cause I know God is in control of these situations and this is a really minor challenge compared to others we could be faced with.

Still, for those of you curious how the whole no-insurance thing will work I'll be blogging the experience. Look out for some crazy highs and even crazier lows. And, if any of you have any tips or have been through this before I'd love to hear your stories!

So, there you go. My Total Truth Tuesday. Loving baby #3 is on it's way and we couldn't be more thrilled!

I feel compelled to clarify that we do have insurance (lest you think my children uninsured) just no maternity insurance...

Dang, I thought I was fertile when it just took 2 months (after almost 8 years on the pill)!

That's absolutely nuts about the insurance, though...I thought my situation was icky, but you definitely win. I wish I had sage advice, but hopefully someone else does.

So there you go...you're the official queen of fertility and insurance woes. :)

Congratulations! It is somewhat a relief to read your blog this evening after our "challenging" week thus far. God has a way of working things out and I'm sure he already knows that the insurance thing is just a "thing" related to the delivery of your baby. All the best, and I look forward to reading about your experience.

I know you aren't in California, but perhaps your state has something similar. I have had this happen twice, there is a program here for such cases, and you make payments throughout the pregnancy that acts like an insurance (they match,or pay another large portion through funding). Perhaps your state has something similar. God will totally work out the details. :)

Hey Jenna:

While $15,000 looks like a lot of clams, I'm still lef tasking myself... how much would I pay for either of my kids?

@dewde- so true! : ) that's is exactly the reasoning we followed when we decided to try for #3. we figure they're not gonna foreclose on the baby, right? and if nothing else we'll end up on a payment plan. plus, i refuse to let the big bad insurance companies determine how many children i can have!

still, once you have those pregnancy hormones coursing through your blood it's easy to get a little nervous about what lies ahead! i've just gotta remind myself that it's gonna be okay...

Congratulations!!

God is in control. The devil tries to steal our joy making us worry about insurance and what not instead of focusing on the life inside. But don't let him.

Can't wait to follow you through this!

OH!! A. BUN. IN. THE. OVEN.

Geez, you give a picture and I still don't get it..

CONGRATULATIONS! Good luck with the insurance thing. You might try getting some discount services. I *might* know of one you could use. It's kinda like insurance.

Congratulations Jen! I'm thrilled for your expanding family.

I will keep you in my prayers for the insurance struggles coming your way. Can you do Medicare/Medicaid? I went through my entire pregnancy on COBRA after my job ended. That was fun! =)

ewww the dreaded no maternity insurance... we had that situation with baby #3 because baby #2 was only 7 months old when baby #3 was made & I had immediately cancelled my maternity insurance because, after all, you can't get pregnant (easily) while you are still breastfeeding---OR CAN YOU? Yes you can!

You can make a payment plan with your doctor, and some hospitals will discount if you can make a lump sum payment in advance - even up to 50% sometimes.

Anyway - if God can form a baby in a womb, then He can find the way for you to pay for this. Keep your faith in Him. (I like Him better than insurance companies anyway - have you ever tried to talk rationally with those people!!??)

Congratulations, nice to meet you, love your blog, and sorry if I'm too forward on a first time post! :-)

I'm a Believer!
