Fro' Me to You
Let me tell you a little about my highschool. It was an all-girls school. Which means we basically had an all-girls prom (with the exception of a few pitiful fellows bused in from the local military school). And, in case you couldn't guess, all-girls proms pretty much, you know, blow. But, I went. Every year.
And here I am my junior year dressed as a deranged wedding cake topper. This outfit was not a joke. I was serious. Notice how I am alone in the pic? Yep. No date for prom. But that didn't stop me from getting my picture taken in this stunning get-up. Oh no. I had to have photographic evidence of my horrendous fashion sense.
And that brings me to this.
My dearest mom,
why, oh why, did you ever let me out of the house dressed like this? why did you not call the national guard to barricade the door so I wouldn't go into public in this dress? and this hair?
I know you love me, but seriously? would it have killed you to keep me from this embarrassment?
with all my love,
your beloved daughter/chronic fashion victim

what is it with GLOVES? i have wedding photos that look very similar to this shot and i got married in the 90's....what was i thinking! great post.
i know, right? the gloves were the icing on the cake! i can't imagine what i must have been thinking when i saw myself in the mirror!
Good thing you weren't too near any open flame - that dress looks highly combustible!
Funny how our sense of looking good changes over the years!
I WISH I had some gloves like that. I mean, right now I could go for them.
And bless your heart, I think an all-girl's prom seems really cruel!
Thanks for playing along! Too fun!
Very Pretty In Pink-ish.
Love the elbow lenght gloves!
The hair and gloves are a little , um, victimish...but I think the dress is pretty. Dated to that year, sure, but certainly not that awful...I've seen worse...
:) Take heart, it's not so bad. And having no date means you don't have anyone to cut out of the picture when they break your heart.
the hair and gloves are by far the worst. my 4-year-old took one look at that picture and started laughing. She said, "mommy! you look sooooo funny! what is wrong with your hair?"
it's humbling to be made fun of by a 4-year-old...
Oh mothers, why do they do these things to us.
I think you look sweet, but I love the line in your post "deranged wedding cake topper." I'm glad that all of these old photos serve us so well now by giving us a few laughs!
You look so cute though!
Oh my gosh! You look so happy though!
Oh man that is HILARIOUS!!!!
