Another Bloggy Giveaway!

Okay, ladies. Here's my second bloggy giveaway this week.

As many of you know, I love me some creative decorating ideas. I like turning funky things into unusual decor and coming up with ideas that are far from traditional. Since I think I'm probably not the only one, I'm offering up a year's subscription to Creative Home magazine.

Here are the rules for this giveaway:

1. Leave a comment with a way to get in touch with you and tell me your favorite creative decorating idea.

2. You get a bonus entry if you link to my giveaway on your own blog and let me know in your comments.

3. U.S. addresses only. (I love my international readers, but the magazine limits my options on this.)

4. One entry per person please.

I'll be closing comments and drawing names on Saturday night and will post the winner's name here Sunday. I'll also send an email letting you know you've won. You have two days to respond or I will pick a winner from my favorite creative decorating idea.

Good Luck! Be sure and check out the HUNDREDS of awesome giveaways going on at the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival!

My favorite, because it was so easy, was taking fabric and batting and stapling it on a rectangular board. I used toile and put the finished product in my bathroom.

I am not very creative, but my husband is. He made his diaper bag more manly by stenciling cool punk rock stuff on it with spray paint.

I decorated my daughter's room with paintings from Sandra Boynton's books. I traced the pictures on clear acetate with a sharpie. I borrowed an overhead projector from the library and projected it on the wall. I traced it with pencil and then painted the cute animals with craft paint. I even used a metallic copper for the lion's mane and it reflects the light from her room. I drew animals in a panarama around her room and on her dresser. (she's 2 yo) :)

I have so many ideas in my head that never get out! I love to take garden items and put them into a room. I have used a three tiered planter and used it to hold towels, wash clothes and travel size toiletries in my guest room. I am in the process of putting wooden letters spelling out my kids' names on a wooden board and then hainging small frames from ribbons matching their room decor. Oh, gosh, I could go on but it is time to get the Professor up for school.

I use Wallies and Tatouage rub on stencils whenever I can. My dining room looks like an outdoor garden complete with 3-D butterflies on the walls.

I can be reached at the URL associated with my name. THANKS!

I am not creative. I usually glance through Pottery Barn Kids magazines for inspiration and do things for a lot less money. Thanks for doing this giveaway!

I am not to creative in my house. I love vinyl wall stickers, i have them in my daughters room so it looks like a garden in there. Thanks for the giveaway.

I just took a bunch of different size antique frames with no glass, no backing, and no pictures and have them hung in colloage form on a wall. It is very cottagey. I also have studio quality prints and frames of my own non-people pictures in black and white in my new white and gray bathroom.

Not very orignal in my own ideas use magazines and internet alot.

Oh I really need this! I've been hungry for some creative ideas for my house lately!
I'm not normally gifted at creative decorating but my fave tip would be using my children's favorite baby rattles and hanging them on my tree at Christmastime to enjoy along with the rest of our ornaments.

Bonita said...

I am far from being a decorator and really need this prize, but I guess if I need to contribute an idea I particularly like bowls of fresh fruit on counters and tables. For example, I keep a bowl full of oranges, apples, and bananas on my island. It's pretty and a healthy snack as well.

I am terrible at decorating, but one of the things that I do, is to use baskets in nearly every room. They are decorative, tie the look together, and they are great for corraling everything from remote controls to magazines. I would love to be entered in your giveaway.

One of my favorite creative decorating ideas was to take an old bird's nest from my yard and "frame" it in our living room.

Melissa said...

Ooh, I'd love to win this!

My favorite creative decorating idea is to use a hanging shoe rack to store fabric quarters. It works really well and keeps the fabric all in one place.

Katy said...

My fave decorating idea is using old stuff for new stuff...have you ever watched Decorating Cents? They have a trash to treasure part and it is awesome! They made the coolest paper towel holder out of a crochet mallet!! You can make hanging light covers out of baskets etc!!!

Britni said...

The best decorating idea I got was to buy neutral furniture and loud accent colors, that way the furniture will work with whatever color scheme you happen to like that day.

Shepherd Family ACALPM said...

Oh I am not that creative, but I love changing things around and adding a cute ribbon to something that already is in the room, like a vase with a bit red ribbon in winter and with Yellow in summer...See Not that creative!

Christie said...

The most creative thing I've done so far is to save all the glass food containers I buy (lots of applesauce...), spray paint the lids, and use them as canisters for open shelves in the kitchen.
I love your header! Very cute idea!

Anonymous said...

I am not creative, but if I win this mag script I can learn to be..lol My best bets are always to paint or move the furniture around, really told ya I suck...LOL

Unknown said...

So Fun! My favorite decorating idea is to use what you love. Find creative ways to display the things you find interesting. For instance, I like roosters in my kitchen. I ahve paried down a lot of them, but am keeping a big one that I plan to put on my counter.

Toystory said...

I bought a very high "dresser" and with long rectangular mirror and put it in the kitchen -- Stores lots of things out of the way, but now I can display my snow globes totally out of reach from the kids!

pinkgingham said...

I like lots of color! I use bold colors on my walls and then accessorize with other colors. Not overly creative but I love it! Thanks for the great giveaway!

HilLesha O'Nan said...

I try my best, but I'm not an interior designer like my mom. ~lol~ My best tip is to shop at yard sales for the best deals on things for the home instead of splurging.

Kim said...

Paint covers a multitude of sins. Plus it's probably the most inexpensive way to totally transform a room. And there's so many cool painting techniques to choose from today. Yeah, paint is definitely a decorators best friend.

Lissete said...

I'm not very creative and that is why I need this magazine :) I do get neat stuff at yard sales and a can of spray paint works wonders! Does that count?

Brooke Lorren said...

I like making your own curtains with fabric.

Karla Cook @ Roads to Everywhere said...

I've really been into showcasing vintage "treasures" lately. Things that were once common, everyday things like aprons and kitchen utensils. I saw a great idea for a kitchen window treatment recently using those kinds of items that I hope to try soon... And I'd love to win the magazine subscription.

Unknown said...

I am not a creative home decorator but my husband is. He thinks of things that I wouldn't even try. I guess this magazine would come in handy. Thanks for the great giveaway.

I'm not very creative, but I needed a bulletin board type thing and really liked the French ones with the criss-crossing ribbons. So I made one using a painted artist canvas, some ribbon and a stapler. Pretty cure. And super cheap.

I love to use spray paint for adding extra touches or just changing the overall look of furniture, picture frames, gardening flower pots, just about anything. It's cheap, easy to use, and dries quickly.

The best thing I ever did was buy a really ugly 1970s dresser from a girls' bedroom set for cheap. I stripped it, sanded it, painted it, and put snazzy new knobs on it. It's now in my dining room acting as a sideboard.

Just recently I turned an old garden trellis into a display/bulletin board by stapling chicken wire to it. I hung it on the wall in my studio horizontally and use mini clothes pins to hang things from it. This way I don't have to put holes (from thumbtacks) in the items I am hanging! BTW...awesome giveaway prize...love that magazine. Your blog is so fun!!! I'm bookmarking it for sure!

My thing right now is making wreaths, I made a cute grapvine one for my front door and another beachy type one that I hung over an old window an then hung them both on the wall.

What a great magazine! My biggest creative advice is to not be afraid to be bold (I'm still working on this). I painted my laundry room a BRIGHT yellow color and was then afraid that it was too bright. Now that I've lived with it a few days I think I'm going to paint more things in my house the color... it's cheery.

Great giveaway. I love decorating. The kids and I gave daddy's home office a makeover while he was out of town. NASCAR theme. I wrote the names of speedways around the top and the kids painted his favorite guys number, car, tires, racetrack, etc. on the wall and I put empty frames over the paintings. It turned out really cute. :)

Something I have recently been working on . . Hubby and I are remodeling my studio, and there was a bunch of scrap odds and ends he was tossing into the burn barrel. Course i couldn't let them go to waste, some were pretty small sooo I had to put my thinking cap on. LOL I decided to make T-light holders out of them. I am an artist, and painting is my fave thing. Hubby is gonna drill holes into the wood the size of the t-lights and I am gonna to decoratively paint them.

Thanks for a chance to win. I love this magazine!!!

I just discovered this idea! To get art that matches your room, find 9 pieces of scrapbook paper that match and put them in 9 12x12 frames and hang them on the wall in a square shape a few inches apart. Its so pretty and is a nice way to get JUST the right colors. My whole project cost 54 dollars because I got the frames on sale!

My email is in my profile. Thanks!

when we moved into our house we had a gold tub/tile/toilet in the girls bathroom with blue, pink and white striped floral wallpaper. the result was hideous! We striped the wallpaper, I textured and my mom painted off white. I accented with deep red and gold pictures, candle, shower curtain, etc. It is now beautiful!! I'm ready to get rid of all the wallpaper in the house now :)
