Guess what we're doing now!

We're buying the plan for this Playhouse Coop from My Pet Chicken and building a house for our future chickens. We're planning to get 5 or 6 Rhode Island Reds to keep in the back so we can have fresh brown eggs from now on! Since each chicken lays as many as 5 a week we'll have plenty to share.

We're also installing raised vegetable garden beds. We're planting tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, herbs, lettuce, radishes, and a few other veggies.

I'll be blogging as we work on these projects in case anyone else is interested in trying these things out. I'll share all of our successes and failures and what we learn along the way. Just check back often to see how it's going.

Oh, how I am looking forward to the self-sufficient organic life!

Where are you getting the raised beds? Are you building them? I've got a lot of improving to do on last year's garden. Josh says no chickens though :)
